How TrueOne verifies every member: a 3-minute government-ID and live selfie check, performed by an independent specialist, then permanently deleted. No unverified tier exists.
Every dating platform claims to fight fakes. TrueOne is built on a different sentence entirely: no profile exists here until a real human proves they are exactly who they claim. This page explains the 3-minute check, what happens to your data (short version: it is deleted), and why this single design choice eliminates the entire fake-profile economy.
Step one: government ID. You photograph a valid government-issued ID — driver's license, passport, or state ID. Specialist software confirms the document is genuine: security features, fonts, holograms, and data consistency are checked the way border systems check them.
Step two: live selfie. You take a short live selfie video following on-screen prompts. Liveness detection confirms a real human is present — not a photo of a photo, not a screen, not a deepfake — and biometric matching confirms that living face belongs to the ID.
Step three: confirmation — and deletion. Identity confirmed, three facts are retained: that you are verified, your verified first name, and your date of birth (so your displayed age is always true). The ID images and biometric data are then permanently deleted — typically within minutes. This is the verify-and-discard model, detailed line by line in our Privacy Policy.
Verification is handled with an independent, certified identity-verification specialist — the same category of provider that banks and fintech apps use for regulated onboarding — operating under contract terms that enforce the same delete-after-verify rule. TrueOne never builds a database of member IDs, which means there is nothing to breach, subpoena in bulk, or sell. We cannot lose what we do not keep.
Optional verification — the checkmark model most apps use — fails by design: scammers simply operate without the badge, and users learn to date around it. Mandatory verification changes the mathematics entirely. Fake profiles cannot exist, because the fake economy runs on free anonymous registration. Catfishing becomes impossible — the live check defeats stolen photos, the ID check defeats invented people. Age lies end. Married users lose the anonymity that enables them. And bans become permanent: a one-way document hash means removed members cannot return with a fresh account — banned means banned.

Does verification affect my credit or appear anywhere? No — identity confirmation is not a credit inquiry and creates no external record. What if my ID photo is old? The matching accounts for normal aging; dramatic mismatches route to human review. Is my ID shared with matches? Never — matches see your verified badge, first name, and true age. Nothing else, ever.
